Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Zimbabwe affecting women (according to 2012 statistics, the third most common, after Cervical cancer and Kaposi’s Sarcoma), and the third most common cause of death among those cancers. It’s such a devastating disease because women tend to present when it’s too late. The heartbreak when one has to look a patient in the eyes and say, “There’s nothing we can do.” The trauma of sitting and pretty much having to wait to die.
One of my colleagues sent me this informative YouTube video on breast cancer, and, on her request, I’m sharing it on my blog:
For this reason, October has been chosen as Breast Cancer Awareness month worldwide, to encourage women to get screened for breast cancer. Zimbabwean organisations have also joined in to give women greater access to screening and education so they can be treated in time, if need be.
So, here is a list of places you can get screened for breast cancer. The list is not exhaustive; as more organisations make themselves know, I’ll update the list, and continue to share this post. Let every woman in your family know.

Cancer Centre is your best bet, their mammograms are real reasonable round the year. Their address is there under Cancer Centre.
